Ku-Band Amplifier deployed in a customer’s ion source for hadron therapy

Our customers have deployed our standard TWT-based 375W Ku-band amplifiers into a host of applications, including the acceleration of ions for hadron therapy. The tunability of the TWTA system near 14.5 GHz allows optimization of the generation of carbon ions used in this cancer therapy application. This system was deployed at the National Center for Oncological Hadron Therapy (CNAO) in Pavia, Italy.
