ETM's Leaders
Tom Hayse,
Chief Executive Officer & President
Tom Hayse has been with ETM in a full time role since 1985, and has served as CEO & President since 1996. During his tenure as CEO, ETM has grown from $7 million to over $35 million in annual revenues. His past roles at ETM have included: Vice-President of Marketing, where he led the team to develop and bring to market ETM's TWTA product line for instrumentation and communications; Engineering Manager, where he led ETM engineering teams in the design, construction and delivery of high power pulsed and CW microwave transmitters; and Project Engineer, where he designed high voltage test equipment for traveling wave tubes.
Tom holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He is a member and officer of the Northern California Chapter of the Young President's Organization. Tom represents ETM’s membership in the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) and actively represented the SVLG’s partnership with Plug-In Bay Area (PIBA) to promote the commercialization of plug-in hybrid vehicles. Ryan Pollace,
Vice President, Clients and Markets
Ryan Pollace is ETM's Vice-President of Clients and Markets. He is responsible for the sales, marketing, product management, customer service and program management functions at ETM. Ryan joined ETM in 2001 as Product Marketing Manager of ETM's Instrumentation product line. He then served as Director of Products responsible for marketing and managing of ETM's instrumentation, satellite communications, and electronic warfare product lines.

Bill Nighan,
Vice President, Business Development and New Product Development
Bill joined ETM in August 2008 to develop ETM’s business in medical, security, and alternative energy markets. Prior to joining ETM, he was with the Incubic Venture Fund, where he led investments in a number of successful technology and medical device companies, and served as Incubic’s “interim CEO in residence” for several start-ups. From 1993 to 2000, Bill built and led the engineering teams that developed Spectra-Physics Lasers’ diode-pumped solid-state laser products, as Director of Engineering and Advanced Research of SPLs’ OEM Business Unit. These award-winning products led SPL's transformation into "The Solid State Laser Company" and its IPO in 1997 (acquired in 2003 by Newport Corporation). From 1990 to 1993 at the Carl Zeiss Laser Technology Center, he managed development and gained FDA clearance for new surgical laser products in arthroscopy.
Bill graduated from Brown University with a Sc.B. from the EE Honors Program, and from Princeton with a Ph.D. in the EE Electronic Materials and Devices Program. He has had over twenty U.S. patents issued, is a member of the IEEE and OSA, and serves on the Boards of Nellix Endovascular, and Greystripe. bnighan@etm-inc.com
Richard Marquez,
Vice President, Client and Partner Development
Richard Marquez is ETM’s Vice President of Client and Partner Development. With over 25 years of partner development and sales experience, Richard is responsible for establishing and building client and partner relationships with companies providing solutions in the security, medical and alternative energy markets. He is also responsible for extending the footprint of ETM’s entire product portfolio into new markets in Asia. Before joining ETM, Richard was the Vice President of Worldwide Partners Sales for LogLogic, a worldwide provider of security and compliance solutions where he was responsible for all partner relationships including system integrators, OEMs, strategic alliances, managed service partners, distributors and regional solution providers. Prior to LogLogic, Richard spent 16 years in vice president and senior director roles building and leading the partner sales teams at Computer Associates, Symantec Corporation and NeXT Computer. Prior to NeXT Computer, Richard was Director of Computer Resale for Stanford University where he managed the largest educational computer sales operation in the country.

Abby Schlatter,
Vice President, Operations and Finance
Abby Schlatter is ETM's Vice President of Operations and Finance. She is responsible for ETM's supply chain, finance, accounting, information technology, and facilities. Prior to joining ETM, Abby managed operations and distribution for McMaster-Carr Supply Company. She also advised UNICEF on supply chain systems design and integration in East Africa.

John Capovilla,
Vice-Chairman & Executive Advisor
John Capovilla serves as the Vice-Chairman of ETM's Board of Directors as well as an active advisor to the CEO and the VP of Operations and Finance. From 1992 through 2007, John served as ETM's VP of Finance and Administration responsible for contract administration, human resources, finance, accounting and information technology. He has been with ETM since 1984 in various positions including Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager, and President. Prior to joining ETM, John worked at GTE Lenkurt for 13 years as a department manager, responsible for production of crystal filters.
